How to knock a tap hole in a ceramic or granite sink
We have been asked a thousand times what's the best way to knock a tap hole through a ceramic or granite sink.
There are several ways in which you can knock through a tap hole through a ceramic or granite kitchen sink, but with trial and error, the best way we feel is as follows:
You will need the following tools
PPE – Gloves and protective mask Electric or cordless drill 35mm Hole saw or the size of the recommended hole size for your sink Water in a spray gun or similar Saw horse or similar Centre punch Hammer File
Step one, remove the sink from the original box, ensure you check the sink for any damage.
Place the sink upside down on a foldable saw horse or similar, placing a towel or something soft not to mark your sink.
Using a drill with 35mm hole saw suitable for ceramic or granite, or using the same size hole saw as your sink scorch mark, carefully and slowly using waster spray gun to keep dust levels down, drill very carefully and slowly your sink. Do not drill all the way through, this will damage your sink and will blow the sink.
Once you are around 3mm from drilling through the sink, stop drilling and turn the sink so it is now facing the correct way round. Using a centre punch and hammer carefully tap through.
Using a file, carefully smooth off the edges for factory finish.
