How to care for your sink:
Although amongst the most robust for kitchen sinks, care still needs to be taken within busy households. Whilst a ceramic sink can take a certain amount of kitchen punishment, it can chip and crack if too much force is used. If heavy or sharp objects are dropped in the sink, it can cause damage. Unfortunately, once the glaze is compromised the area will begin to discolour.
Scouring pads and washing up bowls should also be avoided at all costs. They can cause scratching on the bottom of the sink bowl, although a removable sink mat may reduce this. Extreme hot and cold temperatures can also cause cracks if poured directly into the sink. Sadly, some foods and liquids such as red wine, tomato-based sauces, and tea and coffee can stain if left to sit. Turning the tap on to balance the temperature, swilling leftovers down fully and regular deep cleans will minimise this.
The distinct gloss white finish on the Astini Rustique Ceramic Kitchen Sink is easy to clean and resistant to most chemicals. If you are eco-minded and looking for an environmentally friendly sink then, ceramic is probably not the best option for you. The processes used to make them require a lot of energy and as the raw materials are mined, ceramic is less sustainable than some other sink types.
