Shaws' ceramic sinks are hugely popular thanks to their robustness. Made to last a lifetime, the technique used to make their sinks hasn’t changed since they first began. It is passed down from master craftsman to apprentice. Taking three to four weeks to produce, the clay for each handcrafted sink is mixed and poured by hand. They are truly unique and carry the impression of the maker on their base. This sets them well apart from similar sinks of different brands in terms of individuality.
The traditional fashions used to craft the sink mean that, as with all ceramic sinks, the model can vary slightly in its dimensions, shape and form. This is usually by a tolerance of +/-2% from the given dimensions. Not a problem for most, however, if you are replacing an existing sink or are limited by dimensions, it is something to be aware of. It is worth spending some extra time checking the minimum and maximum dimensions to avoid disappointment. Please note that these are on the heavy side, which is why they are sit-on-cabinet sinks.
With two layers of a heavy-duty glaze, the sink is fired at over 1200°C, providing it with exceptional heat, scratch resistance and stain resistance. The ultra-smooth, fired surface has been proven to reduce 99.99% of bacteria. It is also chemical-safe so even cleaning it is carefree! Although double glazed and amongst the most robust in Butler sinks, heavy pans and sharp objects can still cause cracks and chips. Once the glaze is compromised, discolouration of the area will start shortly after.
The Shaws Classic Butler is available in four sizes – 600mm, 800mm, 900mm and 1000mm. Each size is available in either the white or biscuit colour. Wastes are also available in Chrome, Nickel, Gold, or Antique Bronze. This provides a plethora of combinations to match your kitchen space and scheme. The Butler sink has a conventional round overflow and is also suitable for a waste disposal if desired. It is really handy for busy households and even big enough to wash a dog!
