Kitchen Trends &
Tap Designs
Our Brand Values
Quality, technology, design and sustainability. Four brand values that illustrate our commitment to creating exceptional experiences. We set our standards extremely high to ensure that every time you turn on a GROHE faucet or step into a GROHE shower you can feel the difference.
Planning an efficient Work Zone
The kitchen is the central meeting point of every household. From breakfast to relaxing with friends, its design needs to meet the requirements of all of its users.
Before you start, consider all the tasks and activities that you would like to use the space for and include an area for each of these.
Kitchen Layout

Both the size and shape of your kitchen will help you to determine the best way to utilise the space. The principal activity zones: the sink, the cooker or hob and a preparation/serving area, should be laid out in a triangle and contained within an area that is uninterrupted by through traffic. This is often referred to as the work triangle and is the most efficient way to plan a kitchen, as it cuts down on time spent walking between these areas.

It may be that you will need to re-locate some of the service points – e.g. water, electricity and waste pipes – within the space to create the best layout.

Locating the essentials
Ideally there should be an area of work surface, either side of the sink and hob. Freestanding range-style cookers give a semi-professional look. If you prefer built-in appliances, then consider locating a single or double oven in a tall unit as they are more convenient to use at this height.

Remember that front-loading appliances, such as ovens and dishwashers, will require extra space in front of them for comfortable access. Locate this dishwasher adjacent to the sink, so that you can easily pre-rise dishes before loading the dishwasher

Style and Design

Consider the amount of storage space you will need for food, pans, tableware and small appliances. Locate wide pan drawers between the sink and the hob and allow adequate surface space for the kettle, toaster and other frequently used extras.

Wall units often make a small kitchen appear smaller, so consider glass-fronted doors for a lighter feel, or combine them with open shelving. Tall pull-out larders are now popular and allow easy access to all their contents. Mid-height and full-height units can be used to house a built-in appliance as well as provide extra storage space.

Kitchen dining
Open-plan kitchen/dining areas are now a popular choice. If you have the space, include an island or peninsular unit to separate the work zone from the dining area. Here, choosing a different worktop material will add interest and help to define the two areas. This is also a good place to locate a breakfast bar for informal dining and a second sink.

Design Guide to Kitchen taps
The kitchen mixer tap is the hardest working piece of equipment in the home. From filling the kettle to rinsing vegetables, it is used throughout the day, every day. Therefore it is essential to invest in a tap that not only looks good, but is also built to last.
Design Styles

A kitchen tap should be chosen for its perfect balance of design and function. It should enhance the work area and be effortless to use, even with greasy hands. A smooth handling of the lever is very important in order to ensure a precise adjustment of water flow or temperature.

For an architectural open-plan space, choose a single-lever mixer with refined lines to echo the purity of the room. For a traditional kitchen select a two-handle mixer. Keen cooks will appreciate pull-out rinsing sprays and mousseurs – both make light work of rinsing out pots.

Two-handle taps
The classic styling of a two-handle taps allows them to adapt to any kitchen environment. Mounted in a single hole in the sink or the worktop, they feature individual levers or handles to control the hot and cold water supplies.

Single-lever tap
Single-lever mixer taps enable you to control the water flow and temperature with one hand. Ceramic discs in the tap cartridge allow fingertip control of the water mix, leaving your other hand free to use the rinsing spray. Levers can either be mounted on the top or at the side of the tap body.
Tap Finishes

Stainless steel and chrome taps complement all style of kitchens. Sparkling chrome will add a highlight to the kitchen area and enhances the look of composite work surfaces and sinks. Stainless steel, a material known for its anti-bacterial qualities, gives a professional look.

What should I look for?
Look out for a solid metal tap body with ceramic discs in the cartridge for smooth easy-to-use actuation. A quality tap will last a lifetime so select a design with timeless appeal.

It is false economy to buy a cheap tap, as you will only have to replace it a few years time. If your budget is tight, try and save money elsewhere in the kitchen.

Choose a tap that comes with a guarantee – this shows that the manufacturer is confident that its products will deliver for years to come. Before purchase, check that your water pressure is compatible with your choice of tap. For optimal performance, many taps require a minimum flow pressure of 1.0bar.

From first thing in the morning until last thing at night the kitchen tap is one of the hardest working pieces of equipment in the home. GROHE kitchen mixers are designed to deliver unbeatable performance all day long.

Pull-out & Pull-down Kitchen Tap Sprays
Pull out kitchen taps with rinsing sprays transform the kitchen sink into a multifunctional work zone.

Our kitchen tap collections fuse perfect ergonomics with award-winning design. With a diverse range of designs and material finishes to choose from, finding a pull-out kitchen tap to complement your kitchen decor and meet your functional requirements is easy with GROHE.

What is the difference between a pull-out spray and a pull-down spray?
Both offer the same features and versatility. The difference is in the action required to extract the hand-held spray from the tap spout.

In general, if the kitchen tap has a straight spout, you need to ‘pull out’ the spray. If the spout points downwards, then you ‘pull down’ to use the spray.

Kitchen taps with professional sprays

For home chefs who are as serous about design as they are about product features, a kitchen tap with a professional pull-down spray is the latest
‘must-have’ style for designer kitchens.

K7 tap with professional spray
Admired for its semi-professional styling, the GROHE K7 collection is a modular range of kitchen taps.

The eye-catching collection comprises every conceivable combination of tap and spray: including a tap with pull-out rinsing spray, professional spray
and a side spray.

Anti-limescale nozzles
  • The professional spray and pull-out spray on our K7 kitchen taps feature GROHE SpeedClean nozzles.
  • Just wipe the surface of the spray to clear any limescale deposits.
Pull-out Kitchen Taps with Rinsing Sprays
From rinsing salad leaves and delicate fruit to filling pots and pans, a dual-spray tap is an indispensable work tool.

Two sprays to choose from
Our pull-out taps feature two sprays: a wide, rinsing spray and a regular spray.

Easy switching between regular spray and wide spray On kitchen taps with a large rinsing spray, a rocker switch enables you to alternate between the wide spray and the regular mousseur spray. On smaller sprays, simply turn the water off to revert back to the regular flow.

Increase your work area
GROHE pull-out sprays have a reach of 40 - 50 cm depending on which tap design you choose.

Enduring looks. Reliable performance
All GROHE pull-out kitchen taps feature a robust steel hose to ensure pristine appearance no matter how often you use it. A spring below the sink guides the hose back into position after use.

Kitchen Taps with Pull-out Mousseurs

If you prefer the architectural look of L- and U-shaped spouts, but still want to benefit from the functionality of a pull-out spray, then chose one of our kitchen taps with a pull-out mousseur.

In contrast to a pull-out rinsing spray, which features two sprays, a pull out mousseur simply extends the reach of the end of the tap spout and features a single mousseur spray.

The tap spout is split either at the tip or halfway (depending on the design), to allow the end to be pulled out.

When the pull-out mousseur is not in use, it is virtually impossible to tell that the tap includes this practical feature.

A water filter tap combines an under-sink water filter with a kitchen tap to reduce the
impurities found in ordinary tap water that can affect its smell and taste.
GROHE Blue® Water Filter Tap
Under-sink water filters – great tasting water from your kitchen tap. In most cases it’s the taste and odour of tap water that puts people off drinking it. A water filter tap reduces the heavy metals, chlorine and lime found in tap water, which can sometimes give it an unpleasant taste. They are more convenient to use than jug filters as the filter is connected directly to your household water supply – delivering filtered water on demand.

Water filter taps - an environmentally friendly solution
Replace bottled mineral water with filtered tap water and you will save money, time and natural resources. It takes seven litres of water to produce a one-litre bottle of mineral water, plus there is the inconvenience of carrying it home and then recycling the empty bottles.

GROHE Blue® water filter tap
is a complete water filter system. It features an under-sink water filter, GROHE Blue® tap and an elegant one-litre glass carafe. The tap features two internal waterways (made from food-safe PEX) for filtered and unfiltered water. A light on the tap handle blinks when the
filter capacity is lower than 10 percent, alerting you to the fact the filter will need to be changed soon. The under-sink filter is capable of filtering up to 500 litres of water, lasts up to six months and can be adjusted to deal with hard and soft water supplies.
Chilled & Sparkling Water on Tap
Our all-in-one home water cooler and carbonation system delivers freshly chilled and filtered water straight from the kitchen tap,
with a level of carbonation matched to your taste.
GROHE Blue® Chilled & Sparkling
The Water Filter Tap with Extras

With all the features and benefits found on GROHE Blue® Pure, GROHE Blue® Chilled & Sparkling takes water filter systems to the next level. Not only does the system feature an advance under-sink filter, it also chills the water and offers a choice of two levels of carbonation.

Water filter taps – saving natural resources
With a home water filter system, there’s also no need for transportation from source to supermarket and no need to lug heavy bottles of mineral water home.

Home water cooler

Home water cooler

After the water has passed through the four-step filtration process, the under-sink water cooler chills the filtered water to a pleasant temperature of 6° Celsius.

Home water carbonator
Still, semi-sparkling or carbonated? Unlike a tabletop soda maker, our water filter tap with cooler and carbonator takes up no extra space on your kitchen work surface.

The GROHE Blue® Chilled & Sparkling water filter system delivers filtered, chilled and carbonated water direct from your kitchen tap.

Simply turn the three-step handle on the left of the tap to select chilled and filtered water, with a level of effervescence perfectly tuned to your palate.
  • Step 1 – still
  • Step 2 – semi-sparkling
  • Step 3 – fully carbonated

Beauty Generates Love - GROHE Design
At GROHE, design is more than just aesthetic trappings. It is a quality feature and stands for the perfect synthesis of form and function.
The result is the joy you experience every time you use our products. And the joy we experience every time we receive an award for our uncompromising love of quality.

The presentation of a red dot ‘best of the best’ award for GROHE Ondus® in 2007 was the first hint to the industry that design was now a fundamental brand pillar, in addition to quality, technology and sustainability. The total red dot award count now stands at an impressive 27- including three further ‘best of the best’ awards for GROHE Ondus® Digitecture (2009), the GROHE Rainshower® Icon hand shower (2010) and the new GROHE F-digital Controller (2011).
This commitment to producing the most relevant and inspiring designs in the sanitary industry has also resulted in GROHE advancing 104 places in the annual iF company ranking – the biggest gain in this classification, while awards from the USA, UK, China and Japan illustrate the international appeal of our portfolio.

But perhaps one of the most significant shifts to have occurred in the last five years is the way in which creativity has been used not only to develop products that add value, but also as a catalyst to change the entire culture of the company.

Award winning In-house Design Team
“For many years the company’s top management has demonstrated its commitment to excellent design and provided Paul Flowers with the support he needs to come up with innovative, surprising and aesthetic solutions and to bring outstanding products to the market time and again.” Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, CEO “of the red dot design award“
In June 2011, it was announced that Paul Flowers and the GROHE Design Team had been selected to receive the highest accolade in the field of product design - the red dot ‘design team of the year’ 2011/2012.

Recognised globally as a mark of distinction, GROHE is the first company in the sanitary industry to be honoured with the award since its introduction in 1988.

The award is presented annually to “international design teams which continuously produce innovative work.”And with the list of previous recipients reading like a veritable who’s who in the world of design, GROHE is in good company. Apple, Bose, Mercedes-Benz, Siemens and Sony are just a few of the big names to have won the award

Grow old together - GROHE Quality
Everything at GROHE comes with a seal of exceptional quality. All our products’ components, ease of operation and perfect looks have to withstand numerous endurance tests – the toughest in the industry – and pass with flying colours before the products leave our premises.

At GROHE’s life testing laboratories in the Black Forest, our products are put through their paces and shown no mercy. Here, our faucets, showers and thermostats and all the components that go with them have to endure the simulated effects of 20 years’ daily use – with especially hard water. That we outperform our own as well as international quality standards in the process pays dividends – and it shows. GROHE quality goes well beyond an article’s normal life cycle and, should a certain product be discontinued, replacement parts remain available for a minimum ten years.
Independent Testing

Also in independent tests overseen by rigorous juries, our faucets, showers and thermostats sparkle. In a durability test conducted by German testing and inspection services provider TÜV SÜD, GROHE’s Eurodisc won against nine other prestigious competitors. Thanks to GROHE SilkMove® technology that ensures incomparably smooth and easy operation in all of our single lever mixers. In a survey by LGA Qualitest GmbH, our Grohtherm 3000, 2000 and 1000 thermostats each took first place among 17 thermostats from European manufacturers. Thanks to GROHE TurboStat® and GROHE CoolTouch®, our Grohtherm 3000 even came out overall winner with top scores in four categories.

And since we ourselves are pretty proud of our
filter capacity is lower than 10 percent, alerting you to the fact the filter will need to be changed soon. The under-sink filter is capable of filtering up to 500 litres of water, lasts up to six months and can be adjusted to deal with hard and soft water supplies.

Pure Freude an Wasser
Moments of Truth

Ongoing investment in research and development allows us to turn world-leading technologies for bathrooms and kitchens into reality. Our products have been created to last a lifetime, to be both easy and intuitive to operate and to make the use of water a pleasure.
Save Water. Save energy. Converse resources. How bothersome and bleak that sounds! Yet many of GROHE´s groundbreaking technologies prove that a hands-on sense of responsibility can be invigorating - not only for the environment but also for you.
Take Responsibility

In this day and age, would anyone still allow litres of unused water to mindlessly pour down the drain while brushing their teeth? Today, our awareness of the precious nature of this element is much too great.

Only three percent of the Earth’s water is drinkable. For GROHE, the conscious, economical use of energy and resources is not just a challenge but also a great pleasure. That’s why we channel all of our inventive spirit into masterminding sustainable systems. For example, our GROHE EcoJoy™ technology has long been a self-evident part of many of our fittings and showers. It helps save up to 68 percent of water used – and truly lives up to its name.

Of course, it’s not just in the bathroom but also in the kitchen that GROHE translates active eco-mindedness into comfort and convenience your conscience can live with.
Now, for instance, with GROHE Blue®, you’re permanently spoilt for choice between cool, still table water and refreshing sparkling water without a truckload of mineral water bottles ever having to make the journey into your home. This way, you even save the energy of having to carry them upstairs.
GROHE WaterCare®

GROHE WaterCare® is a promise that we, together with our customers, make to secure the future of this precious natural resource. To achieve this GROHE takes many measures.

The products we develop for our customers ensure economical use of water and energy without sacrificing comfort.

About two thirds of water consumption in private households is accounted for in bathrooms with a WC or urinal. As much as a third of water consumption is flushed down the toilet. Contemporary sanitary technology, such as our dual flush technology, which helps to use up to 50% less water.
Sustainable GROHE Technology. GROHE EcoJoy™
GROHE EcoJoy™ technology helps us and you keep our promise – but also keep on enjoying water. This technology is already built into many of our fittings and showers as standard. It minimises consumption and maximises convenience.
